Fire Assistant X2 – Mokopane, Limpopo Full Time

VACANCY

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to  develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

FIRE ASSISTANT X 2 REF: IVP-MTS-2609

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

·       Grade 12 with Mathematics

·       First Aid Level 3 (Basic Life Support Advantageous)

·       Fire 1 accredited by SAESI or NFPA 1001 Standard (advantageous)

·       Computer literacy

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

·       Isometrix management system

·       2 years Mining experience

·       Presentation skills

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·       Compliance and application of Sect 22 and 23 of the Mine Health and Safety Act

·       Monthly inspections and reporting on all Fire Extinguishers and hose reels and hydrants on site and industrial Offices.

·       Inspect and report on all emergency exits monthly, ensuring they are free from obstruction and operational.

·       Monthly checking of fire alarms.

·       Ensure that all Hazardous materials are stored and managed correctly in terms of the chemical compatibility chart, submit report monthly and keep hazardous chemicals register and MSDS’s monthly up to date.

·       Assist with the development and the constant review of fire preparedness and hazardous substances guidelines, procedures and Code of Practice to meet the needs of Ivanplats

·       Engage Surface Fire Drills (quarterly- within 90 days of the previous drill) and submit.

·       Monthly checks of surface fire breaks and submit report.

·       Check monthly all surface belts fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems and submit report.
