Safety Internship Programme – Mokopane, Limpopo Temporary

VACANCY

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to  develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

SAFETY INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME: (Ref: IVP-HRD- 2621)

The programme is intended to empower learners to acquire knowledge, skills, attributes and values required to operate confidently in the Mining working environment and to respond to the challenges of economic development.

Suitable candidates must meet the following minimum requirements

The purpose of the opportunity is to offer experiential learning to formally qualified candidates with relevant qualifications in National diploma (NQF 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7/8) in Safety Management

The following documents copies must be attached to all applications:

·       National Diploma/ Degree Qualification copy with completed degree or official

confirmation letter on completion of the course from the university,

·       South African Identify Document (SA ID),

·       CV and certified copies of other qualifications,

Key functional areas/essential functions:

·       Must be medically FIT to work underground

·       Compliance and application of Sect 22 and 23 of the Mine Health and Safety Act

·       Safety Management standard exposure

·       Assist with on site inspections

·       Participate and comply with all legal elements as well as Ivanplats safety framework system

·       Assisting in auditing and optimisation of support systems.

·       Support audit outcomes requirements with the relevant heads of department

·       Support the TEAM with required KPIs while gaining work experience.

·       Performing research within scope of learning at the level of Supervisor’s request.

·       On the Job Shadow of all relevant Mining, Engineering, Concentrator and Services sections.

·       Rotational exposure of all Mining activities department.

·       General Safety Administration and support on Safety Management.

Duration and Conditions:

·       The successful candidates will be enrolled in an internship programme for a maximum of 2 Years depending on the applicant performance.

·       Candidates must be prepared to work underground and on surface, in all mining operations.

·       Must pass all the relevant medical fitness examination and relevant assessment.

·       Must be unemployed.
