Council for Geoscience

Council for Geoscience is South Africa’s principal geoscientific research and advisory organisation, with a long history dating back to the 19th century, a national mandate codified in law, a workforce of several hundred, and a key role in supporting government, industry and scientific work across the country through data, services and research.

Regional Presence:

• Besides its Pretoria headquarters, CGS maintains regional offices in Polokwane (Limpopo), Cape Town (Western Cape), Pietermaritzburg & Durban (KwaZulu-Natal), Gqeberha (Eastern Cape) and Upington (Northern Cape).
