Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine (Pty) Ltd is a mechanised underground chrome (chromite) mining operation located in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, near Steelpoort and Lydenburg. It is a subsidiary of Assore South Africa (Pty) Limited, a major mining holding company focused on base metals and minerals.
What the company does:
The mine extracts and processes high-quality chromite ore, which is the key raw material for producing ferrochrome — an essential ingredient in stainless steel production. The chromite is mined underground using mechanised bord-and-pillar methods and then beneficiated into various grades of chrome products for domestic use and export.
