Samancor Chrome is a privately owned mining and metals company specializing in the mining and smelting of chrome ore to produce ferrochrome, a key component in stainless steel production.
The company was formed in 1975 through a merger between SA Manganese Ltd and Amcor Ltd and has grown into one of the largest integrated ferrochrome producers in the world.
Its corporate office is based in Sandton, while its operations include multiple mines and smelters across Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and North West provinces in South Africa.
