Safety Officer – Mokopane, Limpopo Temporary

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

Experienced Civil Safety Officers REF: IVP-MD-2607

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

·       Grade 12 qualification (only applicants with Grade 12 will be considered).

·       Candidates are required to have the SAMTRAC qualification.

·       Valid, accredited training certificates applicable to the trade of a Civil Safety Officer.

·       Candidates need to be computer literate and be able to use MS Word and Excel.

·       Please bring your last payslip together with your CV and any other training certificates you have.

·       Good physical fitness and ability to work in outdoor construction conditions.

·       Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

·       Strong commitment to safety and site discipline.

·       Previous experience in this position will be given preference.

Suitable candidates must have the following Traits:

·       Hardworking, reliable and safety-conscious Safety Officer.

     The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·       Performing tasks relating to that of a Safety officer: Identification of Hazards, drawing up of risk assessments, monitoring, inspecting and reporting of hazards/risks in the workplace, communicating and collaborating with all role players as regards safety matters on the construction site etc.

·       Perform additional work when no Safety Officer work is available, when instructed by supervisors.

·       Assist project teams with civil construction tasks, including concrete works, slip forming, shift work and related activities.

·       Work overtime when operationally required, always maintain a clean and safe work area.

·       Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and site-specific procedures.

Please Note:

·       This opportunity is strictly for Safety Officers, a three (3) months limited-duration contract may be offered with possibility of extension.

·       Successful candidates must be physically fit and able to work on a civil construction site.

·       Transportation to and from work and accommodation is the employee’s responsibility, as the position is for local candidates only.

·       There are no allowances of any form.
