Purpose of the Position

The Joint Civils (Pty) Ltd is appointing experienced, competent and safety-conscious plant operators for the construction of stormwater drainage works at the Platreef Mine. The successful candidate will operate the allocated machine safely and productively to meet the production, quality and safety targets of the project.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

·       Matric (Grade 12)

·       Physically fit and able to perform sustained manual work in outdoor surface conditions.

·       Clean disciplinary and safety record; no drug or alcohol dependency

·       Willingness to work shifts, weekends and overtime as required by the construction programme.

·       Willingness to undergo all required training and induction.

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

·       Previous civil construction or drainage experience will be an advantage but is not essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·       Carry out hand excavation, trimming and shaping of channels, trenches and structure foundations to the levels and profiles instructed.

·       Assemble and erect structural steel components, including beams, columns, frames and supports.

·       Position, align, level and secure steel structures according to drawings and specifications.

·       Use appropriate hand tools, power tools and equipment for steel erection activities.

·       Assist with lifting, positioning and installation of steel components using approved lifting methods.

·       Inspect steelwork to ensure correct alignment, stability, quality and compliance with project requirements.

·       Comply with all SHEQ, working-at-height and site safety requirements, including the correct use of PPE

Place of work: Surface only — no underground work is required

Engagement: Fixed-term project contract (12 months)
