VACANCY

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

·       Matric (Grade 12) with good Maths and Science pass is essential

·       A tertiary qualification in Metallurgy (advantageous)

·       Computer literate (MS Office)

·       Knowledge of concentrator plant SOPs

·       Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

·       Effective communication and interpersonal skills

·       Valid South African Driving License.

·       Medically fit for surface plant operations

·       A resident of communities surrounding Ivanplats Mine (Preferably) or willing to relocate

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

·       Min 8+ years of proven PGM production plant experience as a Plant Operator or Processor

·       Working knowledge of Crushing, Milling, Flotation, Thickening and Filtration in the PGM concentrator environment.

·       Good understanding of the role of reagents in PGM flotation

     The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·       Allocate tasks to Plant Operators

·       Discipline team members within agreed parameters

·       Report all abnormal activities or conditions to the Plant Foreman

·       Assist team during breakdowns

·       Ensure high standard of physical conditions in sections

·       Support engineering team to maintain equipment’s in the plant

·       Monitor process control systems in the section and take appropriate action

·       Alert plant operators of any conditions/situations that may cause issues in their section

·       Establish whether nature of fault / breakdown is either mechanical or electrical

·       Isolation and testing of equipment or area under maintenance to ensure a zero-energy level is reflected on monitors

·       Monitor resource requirements in the shift to changing conditions and liase with Plant Foreman to balance work resources to workload

·       Accurately complete role administration requirements

·       Ensure the production is accurately produced and captured

·       Support and guide the Plant Operators if they require help where applicable

·       Support the training of the team in operational activities

·       Ensure safe operation of plant equipment

     Additional Responsibilities:

·       Be able to stand in for the Plant foreman when required

·       Provide support to the technical and operational teams as and when required.
